The first, by Tony Grunsfeld, was built in 1961 and is currently being restored back to the original, with Mr. Grunsfeld himself supervising on the restoration. This stunning home is built on a ravine and features a bridge to the front door, and Keck-like window vents, among other wonderful details. Our second stop will be at the Edward Dart house that escaped the wrecking ball several years ago. We are excited to celebrate one of our success stories! It all started when the owner of the Grunsfeld home, mentioned above, alerted CBB and the Glencoe Historic Preservation commission that a demolition request should be denied on this important piece of architecture. The owners then met with Joe Kunkel and Joan Gand, who took them on a tour of the large home they had purchased as a tear-down, pointing out all the important features. After the tour, the owners saw the house in a new light, and agreed to keep it, with an extensive renovation and updating. We are excited to see it brought back to life by new owners who now appreciate the significance of this modern masterpiece, known as the Ancel House, and have spared no expense to bring it up to todays standards. Refreshments will be served at the Ancel House. Cost: $25 for CBB members in good standing, $35 for guests (1 per member) Space is limited Please register on our website (will be posted in a few days) or by sending a check to the PO box address below with the names of the attendees.
