Membership - Time to Renew for 2008!
Thank-you to all members who have renewed - but many of you have not. To ensure that you receive news and are eligible for upcoming events, please renew as soon as possible. We have great events coming up that you won’t want to miss! House and high rise tours, and a trip to Springfield led by Kate Keleman and Anthony Rubano are being planned as we write.

Our next event is: Sarah Giller Nelson - Designing the Good Life
2:00 p.m. Sunday April 27, 2008 at the Chicago Modernism Show FREE - located next to our booth
Ms. Nelson is an architectural historian and assistant curator for contemporary art at the Spertus Museum in Chicago. She is the granddaughter of architect Norman M. Giller, who designed over 10,000 structures during his 60-year career including such Miami-area icons as the Diplomat Hotel and the North Shore Band Shell. She will discuss and show a slide show from her new book: Designing the Good Life. Copies of the book will be available for sale, and a book signing will follow.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Please volunteer for the CBB booth at the Chicago Modernism Show. Spend a couple of hours chatting up CBB and Modernism with members and prospective members at the show.We need volunteers for the following:
Friday daytime - set up the booth and stay to attend the opening gala 1:00 - 9:00 p.m. You will get free admission to the show and gala ($100 value)
Saturday: We need volunteers for 2-hour shifts at the booth from 10 am to 7 pm Sunday: We need volunteers for 2-hour shifts at the booth from 12 - 5 pm We also need help tearing down the booth at 5 Volunteers for Saturday and Sunday get free admission to the show

Modernist Architect Ralph Rapson will be missed! Rapson, who designed the Greenbelt House for the 1940s Case Study House program in Los Angeles, and the landmark 1963 Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, died at the end of March. The Gidwitz House, pictured above, was photographed recently by Julius Shulman for the upcoming book on Chicago modernism that Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond is producing.
Hold the Date: Sunday, June 8, 2:00 p.m. We will tour the fabulous Milton Schwartz highrise at 320 W. Oakdale, visiting 3 units including a large unit that has been featured in numerous publications. More info to come!
