Open House Party for CBB members
at 2 Modern houses in Highland Park

Spend a Sunday afternoon in two modern homes near Lake Michigan in Highland Park.
One is a home for sale, and the other, an exclusive visit and party in a member’s home.

 First, enjoy a rare glimpse of art and architecture: an insider’s tour of an original home overlooking Lake Michigan, designed by Stanley Morris circa 1956.  The property includes a wonderful open floor plan, private beach, swimming pool on a large wooded lot.  Enjoy seeing the original landscape with hardscape designed by Gertrude Kuh. The house design includes walls of sliding glass, hardwood & brick floors, large rooms, a wet bar and a
master suite overlooking the yard and lake.

Then, just a few blocks away, we will visit a beautifully restored and renovated 1952 Paul Schweikher home. Our host is a CBB member and interior designer. The house has been restored and updated to preserve this beautiful example of rustic modernism. The home overlooks a beautiful wooded ravine, and features many unusual architectural details.

Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond exhibit at the show

The Winnetka Modernism Show is one of the oldest Modernism shows in the country. The show features  top quality examples of Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Prairie School, Art Deco, Art Moderne, Mid-Centtury and other 20th Century design movements. Furniture, paintings, prints, jewelry, metalwork, pottery, textiles and clothing and other decorative arts from these important periods of design will be offered for sale by over 50 dealers from across the United States and Europe. All events take place at the historic Winnetka Community House, a not-for-profit recreational, educational, and cultural arts facility serving the North Shore of Chicago.

Volunteers are needed to man our booth at the Winnetka Modernism Show on
Saturday November 3 and Sunday November 4
