Californians Came to Tour Chicago-area Modernism
This last weekend, Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond hosted a wonderful tour group of guests from the Palm Springs Modern Committee (preservation group). Joe Kunkel and Joan Gand planned part of the tour and took the group to see the mid-century architectural wonders of the city and the Northern suburbs, visiting members home along the way. A big thank-you to all members who participated and it was great to get a chance to show those Californians that they are not the only ones with great modernism! The tour included visits to buildings by Edward Dart, Milton Schwartz, Tony Grunsfeld, Edward Humrich, Albert Eichstadt, and Keck and Keck. They also went to the Farnsworth House, IIT, Charnley House, Lake Point Towers, and two gardens by Alfred Caldwell.

Keck and Keck Sign Donated to CBB
One of our members, whose home was on our 2005 Keck and Keck tour, has donated an original Keck and Keck sign that was used as a display sign when her home was originally built. The sign was saved in her beautifully maintained garage above the door all these years!
