CBB Tour of Schweikher Home and Studio Schweikher/Indian Lakes Tour Saturday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m. $15 CBB Members/$20 Guests The Schweikher/Langsdorf Home, Schaumburg Our afternoon will start with a guided tour of the original home and studio of Architect Paul Schweikher, former Chairman of the School of Architecture at Yale and Carnegie Mellon. The home and studio were designed and built in 1938 on 7 1/2 acres of land with the gardens designed by noted Landscape Architect Franz Lipp. The home has been kept in original condition by its second owners, Chicago-area artist, Martyl and her husband, Physicist Alexander Langsdorf (deceased). Martyl’s work is included in many museums and private collections. Martyl’s own collection of art and furniture features many mid-century masterpieces. Our tour will be led by Architect Jeff Whyte. Indian Lakes Resort, Bloomingdale Then, we will take a 15-minute drive to tour the Indian Lakes Resort, designed by Don Erickson, a student and apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright, which first opened in 1980. A hexagonal banquet hall, three-story waterfall, “The Cave” bar with atrium and conversation pit, were restored in the $20 million rehab done in 2000. After our tour, feel free to enjoy drinks or food on your own in the Cave Bar (opens at 5:00 p.m.) or the Masters Club House restaurant (open all day). Register Now - Limited Space Available!
