"Through the Picture Window: Postwar Suburban Housing"
This slide lecture gives an entertaining history of the suburban ranch house

We invite you to stay after the lecture to attend our annual meeting and discuss future plans, projects, events, and finances. Our hosts will be the Chicago Architecture Foundation, who have been so supportive of our group since our very first meeting held there in February of 2004.

April 7-9 Chicago Modernism Show
Sunday, April 9 at the Modernism Show: CBB presents a lecture on the life and work of RUSSEL WRIGHT featuring Margaret Doyle, Co-President of Manitoga/The Russel Wright Design Center in Garrison, NY

May 13-14 Columbus, Indiana
CBB bus tour in conjunction with CAF, round trip from Chicago with one night stay

May 23/24 CBB/Art Institute Tour
(sametour both days) in conjunction with the Art Institute. Bus tour of 3 North Shore homes including the Ben Rose home (designed by James Speyer) and auto pavillion (designed by David Haid and known for its feature in the movie Ferris Bueler’s Day Off). Sign-up will be through the Art Institute.

Spring/Summer, dates TBA
Tour of Paul Schweikher’s home and studio in Schaumburg (Roselle), a Prairie modernist masterpiece.
Tour of Mies van der Rohe’s McCormick house and Elmhurst Art Museum.
Film screenings of two documentary films on 1950s & 60s modern architecture, including talks with the producers.
Free CBB receptions at modernist properities which are currently on the market.
